Like its predecessor, it drew heavily from war films , as shown in titles of levels such as "Bridge Over the River Kwai" and "Saving Private Smith". The game received even greater praise than its predecessor, and sold well in the United States and Europe.

Improvements to playable characters in the game included the ability to move bodies, handle explosives, and allowing all characters to drive vehicles paving the way for the Driver's expulsion from the series in the next instalment. Several new characters were added to the series in this sequel: A thief called Paul "Lupin" Toledo , a dog called Whiskey and Wilson , a shipwrecked sailor claiming to be from the Light Brigade.

This is the third sequel in the series and was released in October, In this game the mouse wheel can be used to rotate the player's vantage point. It was the first in the series to use a true 3D engine. However, the game has been criticized for its short missions and lack of hotkeys. Released during the first months of , this game makes a departure from the first three games. Although the missions are set-up in a similar fashion several different objectives, some to be achieved through stealth, others through use of force and in most occasions the player is allowed to change between different characters, this is the first game in the series to apply a first-person perspective, like many other World War II inspired games, in contrast to the overhead view of the earlier games.

Hence, the game is far more similar to the Medal of Honor or Call of Duty games than to earlier entries of the series.

The game attracted an overwhelmingly negative reaction, especially from those coming from fans of the earlier games in the series who see this a massive departure mainly due to the trademark difficulty instead giving way to a game that is much less so. Similarly, it was promoted as mixing elements of strategy from the past games with traditional first-person shooter gameplay but instead only hinted them and whilst being predominantly action orientated.

As a result, both critics and fans felt it did little to distance itself from the recent flood of similar games. Commandos Wiki Explore. Wiki Content. Wiki Content. Is Paris Burning? Another version of the game's boxart features a German soldier that resembles Thomas Hancock.

Installation splash screen for the game features McRae The Pilot which is not a part of the team, but is an ally in one mission. This article is a stub. You can help the Commandos Wiki by expanding it. You must get rid of the soldier on the other side of the bridge. If he sees you, he will hop on his motorcycle and rush for reinforcements. Shoot him with the Sniper and then have the Green Beret hide the body by the nearby trees.

Get the rest of your team across the bridge. The Green Beret, along with the Sapper and his trap, can then clear out the remaining soldiers in the southeast. Supplies have been airdropped to the eastern edge of the map. Wait for the patrol to walk past before sending the Driver to grab the machine-gun and take all three men down.

Get the explosives and bullets for the sniper rifle. You will also need a truck. When one stops at the railroad crossing, kill the driver and take it. The Sniper must then take out the remaining three soldiers outside of the headquarters walls. When the patrol between the two walls is walking away, sneak all of your Commandos, except the Driver, inside to hide behind the building in the north. Then park the truck in the gate of the inner wall.

Get the driver out and blow it up with a grenade. This will prevent reinforcements from getting into the inner courtyard. Kill all the soldiers around the headquarters and then blow it up.

Finally, you must send all of your men to the patrol boat at the dock which will take them to safety. Your two Commandos begin in the northwest. The Green Beret must silently kill the soldiers in the immediate area as well as clear a path down to the phone box in the south.

He can then use the phone to distract the soldier near the clothesline, giving the Spy the opportunity to get the uniform and put it on.

Then eliminate the rest of the enemy at the base of the mountain except for the two patrols. Use the Spy to distract while the Green Beret uses the knife. Now that the area around the cable car is clear, send the Spy up the mountain while the Green Beret hides near the lower station.

The spy must kill the soldier at the top station. Then give lethal injections to the two other soldiers who are just standing. Hide their bodies behind the barracks, out of sight of the patrol.

Head back down in the cable car and pick up the Green Beret. Wait until the patrol near the clothesline is walking away before heading up the mountain again. They can see the Green Beret in the cable car and will begin shooting. At the top, the Spy distracts the patrol while the Green Beret hides in the snow. The Spy must then kill the soldier at the top of the map while the patrol is headed south, then quickly run after the patrol and distract them so they continue looking south, just past the barracks.

The Green Beret must now place a barrel next to the western corner of the barracks and another near the radar. Place a third in-between the two, then hide him in the snow near the autogyro. When the patrol walks past the barrel near the barracks, the Spy shoots it. This will destroy the barracks and kill the patrol at the same time. If any reinforcements arrive, kill them as they are next to barrels. Finally, shoot the barrel near the radar to blow it up and then get both Commandos on the autogyro which will take them to safety.

Your three Commandos begin in the northwest. However, you will only need the Green Beret for this phase. Kill the soldier near your starting position, then the one in the western corner of the building by scaling the wall.

Climb back down and make your way back into the bombed-out building via the ladder on the east side. Clear out the entire building of enemies as well as the surrounding area for a total of ten kills for this phase. The Green Beret must now eliminate the two soldiers near the tents. Stay silent and watch out for the patrolling half-track. Get the rest of the team into the action.

The Sapper should place a remote control explosive along the half-track's path, at the northernmost point. Position the sniper near the building, along the road.

Detonate the explosive as the vehicle drives over it. A couple of soldiers will come to investigate. The Sniper can take them out, but be sure to save two bullets for later in the mission. With the western area clear, move the Sniper down to the southern map edge. Kill the soldier on the roof of the headquarters as well as the one standing behind the HQ, by the railroad cars. Send in the Green Beret to clear out the remaining soldiers in the camp area, careful to avoid the watchful eyes of the patrol to the northwest.

Before you set your explosives, you must first clear a path for your escape. While watching the patrol, kill all of the soldiers in the northern part of the map near the rails and in the snowy area. Then get all of your Commandos over by the cannon, hiding on the northern side. You still have four more enemies to take down before you can set off the explosives.

Kill the three in the nearby building, followed by the machine-gunner. The Sapper must plant the last explosive next to the cannon. Get the entire team to the other side of the building and detonate the explosive. A truck will approach to pick your men up. Get them aboard and it will take them to safety.

Your Commandos begin separated into two teams. The Green Beret and Marine begin north of a fishing village. Kill the two individual soldiers and the patrol. The best way to deal with the patrol is with the Marine. As they are walking away, run up behind them and knife the rear soldier.

Then, before the other can respond, pull out the spear gun and shoot him. Now your two Commandos must clear out the village and get the rowboat. Most of them can be taken out one at a time. However, near the barracks is a patrol. After killing the individual soldiers in the area, sneak the Green Beret into the village and place an explosive barrel near the door of the barracks.

Shoot it with the pistol as the patrol walks past to kill them as well as any reinforcements. Quickly hide since a couple of soldiers from the southwest will come to investigate. Kill them before they can return to their posts. With the barracks destroyed, you can use pistols if necessary. Eliminate any remaining soldiers near the boat, then send the Green Beret with an explosive barrel to take out the patrol near the lighthouse.

The other three Commandos begin in the northwest. The first thing they must do is get a uniform for the Spy. Wait until the soldier near the clothesline is walking away, then run in a put it on.

When the enemy turns around, he will see an German officer instead of a Commando. Then use the Spy to distract the patrol in the northwest so the Sapper can retrieve the explosives. While this phase is not difficult, it requires a lot of waiting, timing and carrying dead bodies. The Spy must kill all of the individual soldiers here, beginning with the one by the clothesline.

Kill the one patrolling near center while the Green Beret distract the one by the eastern corner with the decoy. After each kill, carry the body through the gate and deposit it near the door of the building east of the gate.

Once you have killed four of the individual soldiers, kill the fifth by the water when the patrol is heading southeast. Then quickly run to distract the patrol near the gun at the end of the compound while the Driver and Sapper enter through the gate. The Sapper must plant explosives near the two guns, western first, and then get into the half-track with the driver. The Driver can use the machine-gun to kill the patrol and all reinforcements from the barracks.

When all is clear, the Green Beret and Marine must row up to the ramp, pick up the rest of the team, and take the Sapper to the platform between the two U-boats. Place the explosives near the stern of the subs, near the torpedoes, and then get away in the rowboat.
